The debate continues, at least among a few of us, as to whether it is appropriate to help other teams in any part of an adventure race? Even though the place you finish in may not be important to you, the place the team places may affect other teams in the race and should you be a part of that?

Re: Efficasy of help to other teams
Wed, September 22, 2004 - 10:29 AMI think it depends on what kind of help you are talking about. If someone was hurt or needed something critical (water or glucose), of course I'd help. If they had equipment problems or something that was part of getting through the race, I don't think so. If the equipment problems would mean that they would be stuck somewhere remote, I'd keep going and see if I could flag down a race volunteer, etc.

Re: Efficasy of help to other teams
Tue, October 12, 2004 - 12:13 PMDebate? Why would you debate helping another team? Unless you or they are going to win, isn't the race all about teamwork, self-esteem, meeting goals, etc. I think that helping a team out is all part of this.
Now again, if you are potentially winning or worried about meeting a cutoff time and this team may either beat you or keep you from winning/getting to the cutoff, ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Otherwise, geez, help em out.
